About The Exhibition:  

As society excitedly returns to normal, we reflect on our collective experience in isolation. The past year and a half has affected the way we look at ourselves and each other; we have been existing together, apart. Hueman encourages visitors to look inward as “Homebody” explores identity in the context of an unprecedented moment in time: What happens when we are all forced to stay at home and face ourselves?

This exhibition sits at the intersection of art and technology, highlighting original murals, portraits, and sculptures through state-of-the-art projection mapping and augmented reality. With Hueman’s signature blend of “etherealism” projected across massive white walls, audiences can submerge themselves in colorful mash-ups of the abstract and figurative. This 360-degree experience is enhanced by original, immersive audio and magnificent lighting to bring your consciousness into a new dimension at this Homebody event at Ciel Creative Space.

About The Artist:  

The work of Hueman is woven out of both pure sensibility and hard edge method of working with the spray can. Whether she is creating delicate versions on canvas, or crushing massive walls, she often draws on the human condition to create colorful mash-ups of the abstract and figurative, and the beautiful and grotesque. Hueman is an East Bay native whose works can be found on streets and in galleries worldwide. She has collaborated with some of the world’s top companies that include Adobe, Lyft, Google, Nike, L’Oreal, and the Golden State Warriors.

Ciel Creative Space is proud to host this immersive art exhibition, made with the intention to connect the community. With a host of special programming including community pop-ups with live musical performances by Yuna, Goapele, Ruby Ibarra & more, art classes, private group tours, and a partnership with Hack the Hood to support local access to art and technology, this experience is not just for self-proclaimed art fans, but truly the greater good.

All vendors helping with this project are local or a small business, showing the positive impact this installation has on the community, and furthering the message of reflection and improvement. Uniquely and impressively, this event is completely homegrown and self-funded through community partnerships like Ciel Creative Space, Endeavors Oakland & Mirus Gallery – all born out of Hueman’s unwavering commitment to seeing her vision to completion.
